Chinmaya Mission Madurai is a wing of Global Chinmaya Mission. Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda conducted his Fifth Gita Jnana Yajna here in 1964 for 41 days. Gurudev also visited Madurai in 1988 and conducted a jnana yajna on chapter Fifteen of Gita at Gandhi Museum.

Br.Dharmesh Chaitanya served as Madurai Acharya for a Brief Period. Pujya swami Tejomanyananda , after becoming the Global Head of the Mission visited Madurai in 1996. Swamiji conducted a Jnana Yajna at Raja Muthaiah Mandram on Gita Chapter Two. Swamiji then gave the approval to register Chinmaya Seva Trust Madurai.

In 1998 Br.Srinivas Chaitanya (Now Swami Sivayogananda) was posted to Madurai center. Till the year 2000, the mission was functioning in a rented building. Pujya Swami Tejomayananda visited Madurai and conducted a Jnana Yajna at Lakshmi sundaram hall, Madurai on Chapter Five. Seeing the good response for the yajna in Madurai, Swamiji persuaded the members to purchase a land for Mission premises. The Land was bought and the mission center was built and inaugurated in the year 2003 by Poojya Guruji. Mission also has got an ashram Chinmaya Tapovanam at Pulluthu located at the outskirts of Madurai.

Under the Guidance of Swami Sivayogananda and dedicated mission members, Chinmaya Mission conducts various programs which benefits all age groups across Madurai.
